"It's the Message, not the Messenger" - Bob Marley
I was looking up some quotes on the late singer Bob Marley and found some really interesting ones from WikiQuote. Here are a few that stood out: “People want to listen to a message, word from Jah. This could be passed through me or anybody. I am not a leader. Messenger. The words of the songs, not the person, is what attracts people.” “I don't have prejudice against myself. My father was a white and my mother was black. Them call me half-caste or whatever. Me don't dip on nobody's side. Me don't dip on the black man's side nor the white man's side. Me dip on God's side, the one who create me and cause me to come from black and white.” “If you get down and you quarrel everyday, you're saying prayers to the devil, I say.” “In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty.” “Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life you're living?” “Me not on the black man's side, me not on the white man's side. Me on God's side” “Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don't bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality.” “Me only have one ambition, y'know. I only have one thing I would really like to see happen. I'd like to see mankind live together - black, white, Chinese, everyone - that's all.” “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain” And the most important quote of all… according to his Christian mother, Cedella and Rita his wife, Bob Marley’s final words were: “Jesus, take me.” ref1, ref2, ref3 No doubt about it, Bob was a spiritual musician. A lot of his music was based on scriptures of the Bible. Here is the link to Lois’s Words of Wisdom Website that has many of Bob Marley’s songs side by side with Biblical versuses. Bob's music will live on, like his Natuaral Mystic. "He who feels it, knows it." |

It's Amazing Music Exists at All
Most people simply listen to music. If they think about the origins of Bach’s B-Minor Mass or St. Matthew Passion, it’s probably to wonder how a man with twenty children had the time and energy to write such music. Arguably, the most wondrous thing about music is that it exists at all. After all, it isn’t necessary for the survival of our species; in fact, throughout history, there have always been dour souls who regarded music as frivolous and a waste of time that would be better put to other uses. Intelligent Design On Another Planet?
"The great British scientist Sir Frederick Hoyle has said that the probability of the sequence of molecules in the simplest cell coming into existence by chance is equivalent to a tornado going through a junk yard of airplane parts and assembling a 747 Jumbo Jet!" - bgrnathan read more | digg story |
