NO! with a big fat toddler finger for emphasis

"Taken for the weekly theme - - discontent. He was mad because I wouldn't let him paint without putting on a smock.

The 20 minute exchange went something like this, "do you want to paint?". The boy, "YEP!" (squeals with delight), Mom, "let's put on your smock", the boy, "NO!" (refer to above photo). Then he would stand there so sad watching his sister as she painted. Repeat the above exchange every two minutes. He wouldn't budge, neither would I.

I haven't quite figured out what I would have done if he stood there screaming the whole time his sister was painting. Pouting is so much easier to deal with." - Angela

"It's the Message, not the Messenger" - Bob Marley

Bob Marley, originally uploaded by rockpix.

I was looking up some quotes on the late singer Bob Marley and found some really interesting ones from WikiQuote. Here are a few that stood out:

“People want to listen to a message, word from Jah. This could be passed through me or anybody. I am not a leader. Messenger. The words of the songs, not the person, is what attracts people.”

“I don't have prejudice against myself. My father was a white and my mother was black. Them call me half-caste or whatever. Me don't dip on nobody's side. Me don't dip on the black man's side nor the white man's side. Me dip on God's side, the one who create me and cause me to come from black and white.”

“If you get down and you quarrel everyday, you're saying prayers to the devil, I say.”

“In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty.”

“Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life you're living?”

“Me not on the black man's side, me not on the white man's side. Me on God's side”

“Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don't bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality.”

“Me only have one ambition, y'know. I only have one thing I would really like to see happen. I'd like to see mankind live together - black, white, Chinese, everyone - that's all.”

“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain”

And the most important quote of all… according to his Christian mother, Cedella and Rita his wife, Bob Marley’s final words were:

“Jesus, take me.”

ref1, ref2, ref3

No doubt about it, Bob was a spiritual musician. A lot of his music was based on scriptures of the Bible. Here is the link to Lois’s Words of Wisdom Website that has many of Bob Marley’s songs side by side with Biblical versuses. Bob's music will live on, like his Natuaral Mystic. "He who feels it, knows it."

Mega Hamburger

Mega Hamburger One, originally uploaded by Life on the Edge.

Whoa!

"1) Proper burger meat - a proper burger, IMHO, is made with ground chuck, in a cast iron pan. The beef should be 25% or so fat by weight, lean beef or sirloin are inappropriate. And it should be damn near raw in the center.

2) Proper hand technique - once you pick this unstable tower up, maintinence of it's structural stability has transferred from gravity, adhesion and friction to your grip. Once you establish your kung fu grip on it, squeezing it down to mouth size, you must maintain that grip until there is nothing left to eat but sides and drippings. Use your free hand to maintain a minimal level of dignity and have a good napkin or stack of paper napkins at hand to keep your face, hand and arm respectable." - Life on the Edge

It's Amazing Music Exists at All

Most people simply listen to music. If they think about the origins of Bach’s B-Minor Mass or St. Matthew Passion, it’s probably to wonder how a man with twenty children had the time and energy to write such music.

Arguably, the most wondrous thing about music is that it exists at all. After all, it isn’t necessary for the survival of our species; in fact, throughout history, there have always been dour souls who regarded music as frivolous and a waste of time that would be better put to other uses.
